• Ford Hall Forum Presents "The Bluest State"
Jon Keller

Ford Hall Forum presents “The Bluest State: How Democrats Created the Massachusetts Blueprint for American Political Disaster” with political analyst Jon Keller from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008, at the C. Walsh Theater at Suffolk University, 55 Temple St., Boston.

Keller, of  WBZ-TV News, will be joined by Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby.

The discussion will be followed by an open discussion and book signing. Admission is free and open to all.

Ideal or debacle?

Massachusetts is the proud birthplace of modern-day liberalism and the nation’s foremost test kitchen for its agenda and political practices. Some say it's also home to sluggish economic growth, insular political culture, and a government that often fails to deliver relief for the working-class people it claims to help the most.

Keller and Jacoby will look at whether Massachusetts politics constitute an ideal others should strive toward or have it has led the rest of the country -- or at least its Democrats -- dangerously off course. They will analyze the ups and downs of Bay State political culture and what can be done to carve out a “new frontier” of American leadership.

A century of free debate

The Ford Hall Forum is the nation’s oldest free public lecture series. As it marks its centennial, the Ford Hall Forum has embarked on a new partnership with the Suffolk University College of Arts & Sciences. The College is now housing the Forum’s administrative offices just a block away from where the original Ford Hall once stood.
