FINAL:  SUFFOLK 9, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--  Senior Chris Delisi (Gloucester, Mass.) was one of five players to post wins in both singles and doubles play as Suffolk clinched second place in the final Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s tennis standings with a 9-0 league dual-match triumph over Albertus Magnus Sunday afternoon on the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Courts.

The host Rams, who improve to 6-4 overall and finish 3-1 in Great Northeast play, will be the second seed in this year’s conference tournament and will host either Emerson or Norwich in semi-final round action on Thursday evening.  Complete playoff pairings and tournament information will be released by the league office on Monday.

Suffolk dropped only seven total games in sweeping the dual-match, as Delisi and freshmen Justin Ayoub (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and John Samander (Curacao, Netherlands) each posted straight set singles victories without dropping a game.  The Beacon, N.Y. junior tandem of Garrett Freeman and Greg Garrison, along with freshman Mike DeMoranville (Somerset, Mass.), also swept their respective singles contests for the Rams at the numbers three, five and six spots in the lineup, respectively.

Delisi and Freeman teamed up for an 8-0 win at number one doubles for the hosts, while Samander and junior Nisarg Patel (Chelsea, Mass.) won by that same score at the number two doubles position.  Garrison and DeMoranville picked up the final point for the Rams with an 8-1 triumph at number three doubles.

The visiting Falcons end their season at 1-7 overall and 0-4 in Great Northeast play.

Suffolk travels to Quincy, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon for its regular season finale against Eastern Nazarene in non-league dual-match play that begins at 3:30 p.m.
