The visiting Rams (14-18, 13-9 Great Northeast) collected 40 hits in scoring their 36 runs on the day, as Suffolk scored at least two runs in eight of the 10 innings in the twinbill, including a pair of seven-run frames and a nine-run outburst in the fifth inning of the nightcap. Junior Marie Trainor (Winthrop, Mass.) rapped out six hits and scored five runs on the day for the Rams, who also received five hits and five RBI off the bat of junior Ashley Gaboriault (Sutton, Mass.). Junior Kellie Hurlock (East Lyme, Conn.) and freshman Jessica Kehlenbach (Bethany, Conn.) each chipped in with five hits and a combined five RBI for the winners, who also received four hits, four runs scored and three RBI from freshman Monica Cioffi (East Boston, Mass.). Sophomore Erin O’Donnell (Groton, Mass.) collected three hits and four RBI for Suffolk, which also received a double and four RBI in the nightcap from sophomore Angela Cole (Plainville, Mass.). Ferreira’s three two-baggers in the second contest is one shy of the NCAA Division III single-game record held by five individuals.
Senior Jenna Mourey (Rochester, N.Y.) scattered three hits and struck out six in picking up her seventh victory and first shutout of the season on the mound for the Rams in the opener, while junior Rebecca Schalit (Miami, Fla.) recorded her first triumph inside the circle this spring with three innings of three-hit relief in the nightcap.
Senior Erin Moseley (Sterling, Mass.) rapped out a pair of hits in the nightcap for the host Eagles (7-22-1, 5-16-1 Great Northeast), who also received two hits off the bat of sophomore Sarah Mason (Mays Landing, N.J.) as well as an RBI single from junior Stephanie Zubricki (Brookline, N.H.). Moseley and Mason suffered the setbacks on the mound for Daniel Webster on the day.
Suffolk heads to Newton, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Lasell in a Great Northeast doubleheader that begins at Noon, while Daniel Webster heads across Nashua on Saturday afternoon for a Great Northeast twinbill with Rivier that begins at 1:00 p.m.
