WALTHAM, Mass.--  Junior Samantha Worth (Londonderry, N.H.) rapped out four hits as Brandeis swept a non-league college softball doubleheader from Suffolk by scores of 1-0 in the opener and 10-1 in the nightcap in games played Wednesday afternoon at Marcus Field.

Worth drove in the lone run of the first contest for the host Judges (12-7-1) with a second inning RBI single, and senior Kate Streilein (Point Pleasant, N.J.) made that hold up by tossing a complete-game two-hitter and fanning seven, as she helped her own cause by joining Worth with two hits at the plate.  Junior Jess Ferreira (Cambridge, Mass.) suffered the tough-luck setback on the mound in the opener for the visiting Rams (8-14), as she allowed seven hits and struck out three.

Brandeis jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead in the nightcap that was highlighted by a two-run homer off the bat of sophomore Chelsea Korp (Worcester, Mass.), and the two teams traded second inning tallies before freshman Melisa Cagar (Ridgewood, N.J.) closed out the scoring for the Judges by belting a third inning grand slam.  Worth and Cagar each had two of the hosts’ 10 hits in the second game triumph, as sophomore Allie Mussen (Franklin Square, N.Y.) picked up the win for Brandeis with a pair of strikeouts over four innings.  Junior Ashley Gaboriault (Sutton, Mass.) plated the lone Suffolk run by stealing home in the second inning, as Ferreira and sophomore Valerie Liberatore (Chelsea, Mass.) each recorded hits for the visitors.

Suffolk hosts Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference twinbill on Friday afternoon at Puopolo Field beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Brandeis heads across town on Thursday afternoon to square off with UMass Boston in a non-league doubleheader that begins at 3:30 p.m.
