CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--  Senior Pedro Soares (Sao Paolo, Brazil) notched victories at both the number one singles and doubles positions to lead Suffolk to a 7-2 non-league college men’s tennis dual-match victory over Curry Tuesday evening on the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Courts.

Junior Garrett Freeman (Beacon, N.Y.), sophomore Jared Orkin (Newton, Mass.) and freshman John Samander (Curacao, Netherlands) also netted two wins on the night for the host Rams (3-1), as Soares won his singles match in three sets while Orkin, Samander and Freeman combined to drop only six games in winning in straight sets at the numbers four, five and six spots in the lineup, respectively.  Soares teamed up with fellow senior Chris Delisi (Gloucester, Mass.) for an 8-5 win at number one doubles for Suffolk, while Samander and Orkin combined for an 8-3 triumph at number two doubles.  Freeman and freshman Nick Pratt (Sutton, Mass.) posted the final point of the evening for the Rams with an 8-2 victory at the number three doubles position.

Sophomore Brian Leahy (Reading, Mass.) and freshman Charles Edlund (Hanover, Mass.) were winners in singles play in the setback for the visiting Colonels (2-10), as each player posted three set triumphs after dropping the first set at the number three and two singles spots, respectively.

Suffolk hosts UMass Boston in a non-league dual-match on Thursday evening on the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Courts beginning at 6:30 p.m., while Curry hosts Wentworth in a Commonwealth Coast Conference dual-match on Wednesday afternoon in Milton, Mass. beginning at 3:00 p.m.
