MALDEN, Mass.--  Junior Keith Carter (Newburyport, Mass.) and sophomore Tim Corcoran (Beverly, Mass.) each rapped out four hits and drove in four runs as Suffolk swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader from Norwich by scores of 10-2 in the opener and 6-3 in the nightcap in games played Sunday afternoon at Malden Catholic High School.

The host Rams (12-4, 4-0 Great Northeast) jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first two innings of the opener, building a 6-2 lead through the middle innings before tacking on three tallies in the seventh, as Carter went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs in the contest.  Corcoran added a pair of hits and two RBI in the first game triumph for Suffolk, which also received two hits off the bat of junior Paul Vittozzi (North Reading, Mass.).  Junior Dan D’Elia (Boston, Mass.) went the distance on the mound to pick up his second win of the season for the hosts, as he scattered four hits and allowed a pair of unearned runs while striking out seven.  Sophomore Rob Knox (Conway, N.H.) accounted for both runs in the opener for the visiting Cadets (1-11, 0-4 Great Northeast) with a two-run single in the third inning, as junior Kyle Kenia (Byram, N.J.) allowed six hits and struck out five over four innings in taking the setback on the mound.

Norwich jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead in the nightcap on a two-run double by sophomore Donovan Brown (Corona, Calif.), but Suffolk plated single runs in the second on an RBI single by junior Anthony Iacopucci (Medford, Mass.) and in the third on a Corcoran RBI single to even matters before taking a 4-2 edge in the fourth on a Carter RBI double followed by a run-scoring single off the bat of senior Nick Martinho (Middleton, Mass.).  The Rams added runs in the sixth on a Corcoran sacrifice fly and in the seventh on junior Chris Barber’s (Falmouth, Mass.) RBI single, and the Cadets plated an unearned run in the bottom of the frame to account for the final score.  Corcoran, Martinho and sophomores Jose Alejandro (Lowell, Mass.) and Mike Keneally (Georgetown, Mass.) each collected two hits in the second game triumph for Suffolk, as junior Tim Doyle (Milton, Mass.) allowed seven hits and two runs over four innings while striking out three to record his second win of the season.  Freshman Steve Healey (Norwood, Mass.) allowed one hit and an unearned run while fanning six over the final 2 1/3 innings to pick up his first collegiate save for the Rams, as Brown and freshman Bret Manning (Island Pond, Vt.) each had two hits in the nightcap setback for Norwich.  Junior Kyle Przekaza (Northfield, Vt.) allowed four runs and struck out three over five innings of work in suffering the second game setback on the mound for the Cadets.

Suffolk heads to Norton, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon to take on Wheaton in a non-league outing that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Norwich heads to Colchester, Vt. on Thursday afternoon for a non-league doubleheader with Saint Michael’s that begins at 3:00 p.m.
