WINCHESTER, Mass.-- Seniors Chris Delisi (Gloucester, Mass.) and Pedro Soares (Sao Paolo, Brazil), along with sophomore Jared Orkin (Newton, Mass.), each posted wins in both singles and doubles play to lift Suffolk to a 7-2 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s tennis dual-match victory over Emerson Saturday evening at the Winchester Tennis Club.
Soares, Delisi and Orkin each notched straight set triumphs in singles play for the host Rams (2-1, 1-0 Great Northeast), who also received a straight set victory at the number five singles spot from freshman Justin Ayoub (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Delisi and Soares teamed up for an 8-3 win at number one doubles for Suffolk, while the tandem of senior Andres Fanjul (Boston, Mass.) and sophomore Mohammed Al Neuimi (United Arab Emirates) also collected an 8-3 triumph at number two doubles. The duo of Orkin and freshman John Samander (Curacao, Netherlands) netted the final point of the day for the hosts with an 8-2 victory at the number three doubles position.
Junior David Fein (Monroe, Conn.) posted the lone on-court win in the setback for the visiting Lions (2-2, 1-1 Great Northeast) with a straight-set victory at number four singles, as Emerson also collected a forfeit triumph at number one singles.
Suffolk heads across town on Tuesday afternoon to take on Wentworth in a non-league dual-match that begins at 4:00 p.m., while Emerson hosts Clark in a non-league dual-match on Tuesday evening in Weymouth, Mass. beginning at 6:30 p.m.
