CHANDLER, Ariz.--  Sophomore Jose Alejandro (Lowell, Mass.) rapped out four hits and drove in five runs as Suffolk closed out play at the 2008 Greater Phoenix RussMatt Invitational with a 12-4 non-league college baseball victory over Colby Saturday afternoon at Snedigar Field.

The Rams, who finished 8-2 on their 10-game trip to the Desert, reached double digits in the runs column for the fourth time on the young season, as sophomore Rory Gentile (Gloucester, Mass.) scored four times and chipped in with a double and a triple.  Senior Nick Martinho (Middleton, Mass.) and junior Nick Carter (Newburyport, Mass.) each drove in a pair of runs for Suffolk, which has averaged over nine runs per game in its last nine contests and won five of six outings against regional foes along the way.

Senior Mike Carbone (East Meadow, N.Y.) picked up the win in relief for the Rams in his first decision of the season, as he allowed just four hits and struck out four over 4 1/3 innings of work.

Suffolk opens its Northern slate on Tuesday afternoon when the Rams head to Babson Park, Mass. to take on Babson in a non-league outing that begins at 3:00 p.m.
