KISSIMMEE, Fla.--  The Suffolk softball team closed out play at the 2008 Rebel Spring Games on Friday afternoon by dropping a pair of non-league decisions to Loras (14-6) and Bridgewater State (9-6) in contests played at the Osceola County Softball Complex.

The Rams, who finished 1-7 overall on the eight-game Spring Break trip, used big innings in the fourth frame of the opener against the Duhawks and in the third inning of the nightcap against the Bears to plate six runs in each contest.  Freshman Jessica Kehlenbach (Bethany, Conn.) rapped out two hits and drove in a pair of runs with a double in the opener against Loras, while sophomore Erin O’Donnell (Groton, Mass.) stole three bases in the first setback, including a steal of home.

Sophomore Angela Cole’s (Plainville, Mass.) three-run homer (her first collegiate round-tripper) highlighted the third inning outburst in the nightcap against Bridgewater State, as junior Jess Ferreira (Cambridge, Mass.) added a pair of hits, including a double and a triple.  Juniors Ashley Gaboriault (Sutton, Mass.) and Marie Trainor (Winthrop, Mass.) each collected two hits in the second game for Suffolk, with Gaboriault chipping in with an RBI single for the Rams.

Suffolk returns North to begin Great Northeast Athletic Conference play next Friday afternoon when the Rams entertain Pine Manor in a league doubleheader at Puopolo Field beginning at 3:00 p.m.
