CHANDLER, Ariz.--  Sophomore Jose Alejandro (Lowell, Mass.) rapped out four hits, including a pair of doubles and a triple, while junior Nick Carter (Newburyport, Mass.) belted a homer and drove in four runs as Suffolk ran its winning streak to five straight with an 11-8 non-league victory over Macalester (Minn.) at the 2008 Greater Phoenix RussMatt Invitational Wednesday afternoon at Snedigar Field.

The Rams (5-1), who have averaged nine runs per game during their current winning skein, collected six extra base hits on the day and held off a rally by the Scots (4-8) in the late innings.  Junior Paul Vittozzi (North Reading, Mass.) added a pair of hits in the win for Suffolk, which also received a run-scoring triple off the bat of sophomore Rory Gentile (Gloucester, Mass.) as well as three runs scored by sophomore Tim Corcoran (Beverly, Mass.).

Senior Steve Durant (Malden, Mass.) picked up the win on the mound for the Rams with one inning of work, while fellow senior Greg DiMarco (Newton, Mass.) pitched a perfect ninth to notch his first save.  Freshman Steve Healy (Norwood, Mass.) kept things in check with 3 2/3 solid innings of relief work for Suffolk, as he allowed just three hits and struck out six over that span.

Suffolk continues play at the 2008 Greater Phoenix RussMatt Invitational on Thursday afternoon when the Rams take on Dakota State (S.D.) in a non-league contest that begins at 2:00 p.m. MST (5:00 p.m. EDT).
