CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--  Senior Andres Fanjul and sophomore Mohammed Al Neuimi each posted wins in both singles and doubles play to lift Suffolk to a 6-3 non-league dual-match victory over Western New England in the men’s college tennis season opener for both teams Wednesday evening on the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Courts.

Fanjul and Al Neuimi each notched straight set triumphs at the number one and four singles spots, respectively, for the host Rams (1-0), and the duo teamed up for an 8-6 victory at the number one doubles position.  Sophomore Jared Orkin (Newton, Mass.) and freshman Justin Ayoub (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were also straight-set winners in singles play for Suffolk, which also received an 8-5 triumph from senior Chris Delisi (Gloucester, Mass.) and Pedro Sirotsky at the number two doubles spot.

Junior Jason Lee (Scarsdale, N.Y.) was a winner in both singles and doubles action for the visiting Golden Bears (0-1), who dropped just one dual-match decision in 11 outings all of last season, as he posted a straight-set win at number three singles and teamed with fellow junior Mike Willhoft (Manchester, Conn.) for an 8-6 victory at number three doubles.  Junior Alex Boutin (Bristol, Conn.) collected the other Western New England point of the evening with a three-set triumph at number two singles.

Suffolk will be idle until Thursday, March 27th when the Rams head to Wenham, Mass. to take on Gordon in a non-league dual-match that begins at 4:00 p.m., while Western New England heads to Orlando, Fla. on Sunday afternoon to begin its Spring Break trip by taking on Hamilton in a non-league dual-match.
