TJ Boisseau presents the public lecture "From Talking like a "New Woman' to looking like the 'Modern Gal': Gender and American Visual Culture." TJ Boisseau is an Associate Professor of Gender and Cultural History at the University of Akron in Ohio. She is the author of White Queen: May French-Sheldon and the Imperial Origins of American Feminist Identity (Indiana University Press 2004). She is also an alumna of Suffolk University (BA, '85). Professor Boisseau will discuss the critical skills and perspectives that scholars in the emerging field of visual history bring to the study of gender.
