A dramatic reading and lecture featuring an award-winning playwright

Hugo Salcedo, an award-winning playwright, poet, essayist, critic, and theatre director, will be visiting the College of Arts & Sciences as part of the Distinguished Visiting Scholars program March 3-14, 2008.

On March 11, a dramatic reading of his play El viaje de los cantores/The Crossing will be performed by Alisa Cherkasova, Katiuska Cruz, Adrienne Fitzgerald, Margery Furman, Caitlin Greco, Steve McCreary, Kathleen Pena, Jeremy Solomons, Roberto Terrero, and Stanley Thermora.  Directed by Colleen Rua, Suffolk University alumna and former staff in the Theatre Department.  Following the reading, Hugo Salcedo will present "Manifestaciones politicas en algunos pasajes de literatura dramatica de Mexico/Political Signs Observed in Some Passages of Mexican Literary Dramaturgy," a lecture. 

A reception will immediately follow this event in the McDermott Conference Room, Donahue Builiding (1st Floor).
