Dr. Hamideh Sedghi reads from her new book, WOMEN AND POLTICS IN IRAN: VEILING, UNVEILING, AND REVEILING, Cambridge University Press, July 2007.  Also author and co-editor of GENDER AND GLOBALIZATION: CRITICAL PERSPECTIVES, Routledge, (forthcoming). Dr.Sedghi is a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies, and the recipient of the Christian Bay Award for the Best Paper Presented at the American Political Science Association, New Political Science Section, 2005.

Dr. Shahla Haeri, “Scenes From Women’s Lives in Iran.”  Author of LAW OF DESIRE: TEMPORARY MARRIAGE IN SHI’I IRAN, 1989, (4th edition 2006), and NO SHAME FOR THE SUN: LIVES OF PROFESSIONAL PAKISTANI WOMEN Syracuse University Press, 2002 (2nd edition 2004). Dr. Haeri is Director of Women’s Studies Program and Associate Professor of Anthropology at Boston University.
