PURCHASE, N.Y.--  Junior Jess Delagrange (Canton, Ohio) scored 19 points, while sophomore Nina Johnson (White Plains, N.Y.) added a double-double effort of 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Manhattanville to a 64-56 non-league college women’s basketball victory over Suffolk Monday afternoon at Kennedy Gymnasium.

The host Valiants (12-12) built an early nine-point advantage (16-7) before the visiting Rams (16-7) scored 19 of the final 26 points over the last 12:40 of play in the opening half en route to a 26-24 advantage at the break, and Suffolk built that lead to six points (34-28) with 15:03 to play in the contest before Manhattanville took control with 14 unanswered points in less than four minutes, capped by a Delagrange lay-in with 11:27 remaining, in grabbing a 42-34 edge.  The visitors countered with an 18-10 run in a 7:12 stretch to take their final lead of the day at 54-52 on a lay-in by junior Emily Duquette (Harrisville, R.I.) with 4:15 to play, and after another Duquette lay-in forged the fifth and final tie of the afternoon, the hosts scored the final eight points over the last 2:37 of the contest, taking the lead for good on a pair of free throws by freshman Casey Hickey (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) and two points each from Delagrange and Johnson to ice their triumph.

Junior Lauren Grenier (Oxford, Mass.) added nine points and eight rebounds in the win for Manhattanville, which also received seven points and four assists from Hickey as well as six points from freshman Simona Gordon (Cambridge, Mass.).  The Valiants shot 41 percent from the field and held a 12-0 scoring edge from behind the arc as well as a 40-37 rebounding advantage, and the hosts took advantage of 21 Ram turnovers to score 22 points.

Junior Meghan Tracey (Rehoboth, Mass.) paced Suffolk with 13 points and eight rebounds in the setback, while seniors Stephanie Morrissey (Abington, Mass.) and Katlyn Klecha (Fairfield, Conn.) each netted eight points and combined for nine rebounds for the visitors.  Sophomore Stephanie Zito (Guilford, Conn.) collected seven points for the Rams, who also received six points and eight boards from senior Katie Castignetti (Braintree, Mass.) as well as six points each from Duquette and freshman Christie Iwanicki (Newtown, Conn.).  Suffolk shot 46 percent from the field for the day but hurt itself by missing eight of 12 attempts at the charity stripe for the contest.

Suffolk hosts Saint Joseph (Conn.) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference outing on Thursday evening at Regan Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Manhattanville hosts Arcadia in a Freedom Conference match-up on Saturday afternoon at Kennedy Gymnasium that begins at 1:00 p.m.
