POMFRET, Conn.--  Junior Ryan Gervais’s (Chicago, Ill.) goal six seconds into overtime lifted Nichols to a 2-1 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Suffolk Saturday evening at Jahn Rink.

Gervais converted feeds from junior Cole Ruwe (Pekin, Ill.) and sophomore Zeke Costello (Shelby Township, Mich.) on the game-winner for the host Bison (17-5-1, 11-3 ECAC Northeast), who extended their winning streak to four straight.  Freshman Will Munson (Corona, Calif.) had given Nichols a 1-0 lead just 7:14 into the contest on assists from junior Jeff Bieber (Littleton, Colo.) and sophomore Eric Cremer (Chelsea, Mich.), but senior Dan Pencinger’s (Randolph, N.J.) team-leading 18th goal of the season less than three minutes later on feeds from junior Kyle Cook (Chino Hills, Calif.) and freshman Zach Scienzo (Concord, N.H.) evened matters for the visiting Rams (10-12, 8-5 ECAC Northeast), and the score remained deadlocked until Gervais’s heroics in the extra session.

Junior Keith Fink (Easton, Md.) picked up the win in goal by stopping 26 of 27 shots for Nichols, while freshman Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) made 30 saves for the seventh straight contest between the pipes for Suffolk as the Bison outshot the Rams by a 32-27 margin for the evening.

Suffolk, which suffered its third 2-1 setback this month alone, hosts Curry in an ECAC Northeast outing on Tuesday evening at Walter Brown Arena beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Nichols heads to Springfield, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Western New England in an ECAC Northeast match-up that begins at 7:10 p.m.
