BOSTON, Mass.--  Senior Jaime Crawford (Coral Springs, Fla.) scored 18 points and dished off six assists to lead five players in double figures as Lasell notched a 90-63 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over Suffolk Saturday afternoon at Regan Gymnasium.

The two teams traded the lead six times in the opening 20 minutes of play before the visiting Lasers (15-8, 12-4 Great Northeast) grabbed a 41-38 advantage at the break, and after a pair of free throws by freshman Allan Ray (Lynn, Mass.) enabled the host Rams (2-21, 1-15 Great Northeast) to close to within one in the first 1:15 after intermission, Lasell took control of the contest with 14 unanswered points over a 2:45 span, capping the run on a three-pointer by junior Brad Caravoulias (Dracut, Mass.) with 16 minutes to play in the game.  Suffolk closed back to within 11 points on a pair of free throws by senior Tim Skaggs (Framingham, Mass.), but the visitors then iced their triumph with a 17-6 run over the next 8:35 of action in building their margin to as many as the final score.

Junior Jose Guitian (Miami, Fla.) added a double-double effort of 16 points and 15 rebounds to go with seven assists in the win for Lasell, which also received 16 points and six boards off the bench from sophomore Jude Biton (Hyde Park, Mass.).  Senior Dwayne Powell (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) and Caravoulias rounded out the quintet in double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Lasers, who shot 54 percent from the field overall and canned nine three-pointers while recording 28 assists on 36 field goals.  The visitors held a 42-41 rebounding edge and posted 17 fast break points in running their winning streak to seven straight.

Ray led all scorers with a career-high 23 points to go with five rebounds in the setback for Suffolk, which also received 10 points, six rebounds and three assists from junior Brian Small (Stoughton, Mass.).  Freshman Mike Fleming (Exeter, N.H.) netted nine points on three three-pointers for the hosts, who also received eight points off the bench from Skaggs.  Freshman Mario Massimino (East Haven, Conn.) and sophomore Alan Jaziri (Norwich, Conn.) notched six points and six rebounds, respectively, for the Rams, who shot 32 percent from the floor and connected for six three-pointers while scoring 27 points off of 16 Lasell turnovers for the afternoon.
