BOSTON, Mass.--  Senior Katie Castignetti (Braintree, Mass.) notched a double-double effort of 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead four players in double figures as Suffolk captured its 10th win in its last 11 outings with a 72-43 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s basketball victory over Lasell Saturday afternoon at Regan Gymnasium.

The host Rams (13-5, 7-1 Great Northeast) extended their winning streak to four straight overall by scoring 14 of the game’s first 18 points over the opening 8:54 of action, forcing the visiting Lasers (4-15, 2-6 Great Northeast) to commit 16 first half turnovers en route to a 37-16 advantage at the break.  Suffolk extended its lead to 25 points on two occasions early after intermission, and after Lasell cut that margin to 19 points midway through the second half, the hosts used an 11-1 run over a three-minute stretch to ice the triumph, building their lead to as many as 33 points in the closing minutes of play.

Junior Kerry Bowman (Guilford, Conn.) added 12 points, five rebounds and four steals in the win for Suffolk, which also received 12 points from sophomore Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, Maine) as well as 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals from freshman Christie Iwanicki (Newtown, Conn.).  Junior Meghan Tracey (Rehoboth, Mass.) chipped in with six points and six rebounds for the Rams, who also received six points, five boards, five assists and three steals from sophomore Stephanie Zito (Guilford, Conn.) as well as six points from senior Gillian Brignac (Haverhill, Mass.).  The hosts saw 10 of the 11 players dressed for the contest score at least two points each, as Suffolk shot 41 percent from the field and turned 26 Lasell turnovers into 24 points.  The Rams held a 47-41 rebounding edge and recorded 16 steals on the afternoon.

Sophomore Tricia Culver (Northampton, Mass.) led the Lasers in the scoring column with 11 points, while senior Lauren Picozzi (Coventry, R.I.) added 10 points and six boards for the visitors.  Freshman Carla Zinno (Middlebury, Conn.) chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds for Lasell, which shot 29 percent from the field, including a 24 percent effort in the first half alone.
