Jaziri, Small Combine For 25 Points As Men's Basketball Drops GNAC Decision At Lasell

NEWTON, Mass.--  Junior Jose Guitian (Miami, Fla.) scored 38 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead three players in double figures as Lasell shot 61 percent from the field en route to a 101-64 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over Suffolk Saturday afternoon at the Lasell Athletic Center.

The host Lasers (10-8, 7-4 Great Northeast) scored the first 11 points of the day in building a 48-25 advantage at the break, as Lasell blistered the nets at a 71 percent clip after intermission while increasing its edge to as many as 39 points in the closing minutes of play.

Junior Brad Caravoulias (Dracut, Mass.) added 16 points and eight assists for the winners, who also received 12 points, seven boards and six assists from senior Jaime Crawford (Coral Springs, Fla.).  Freshman Corey Godfrey (Cambridge, Mass.) added eight points for the Lasers, who connected for 10 three-pointers and held a 42-28 rebounding advantage for the day.

Sophomore Alan Jaziri (Norwich, Conn.) netted 14 points in the setback for the visiting Rams (2-16, 1-10 Great Northeast), while junior Brian Small (Stoughton, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points for Suffolk.  Senior Tim Skaggs (Framingham, Mass.) and freshman Mike Fleming (Exeter, N.H.) each scored six points for the visitors, who shot 38 percent from the field and canned seven three-pointers on the afternoon.

Suffolk heads to Standish, Maine on Monday evening to take on Saint Joseph’s (Maine) in a Great Northeast outing that tips-off at 7:00 p.m., while Lasell travels to New Haven, Conn. on Monday evening to take on Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast match-up that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
