BOSTON, Mass.--  Senior Tim Dancey (Anaheim, Calif.) netted a pair of goals and an assist for three points as Suffolk remained perfect in league play by notching a 6-3 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Assumption Thursday evening at Walter Brown Arena.

The host Rams (8-7, 6-0 ECAC Northeast) ended a four-game slide and moved into a first place tie with UMass Dartmouth atop the league standings with 12 points, as goals by senior Tim Recio (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore Mike Mondello (Revere, Mass.) enabled Suffolk to overcome an early deficit and grab a 2-1 lead after one.  Freshman Patrick Fitzgibbons (Holliston, Mass.) evened matters for the visiting Ice Dogs (5-10, 2-4 ECAC Northeast) just 32 seconds into the middle stanza, but markers off the sticks of Dancey and juniors John Rocchio (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Ryan Collins (Amesbury, Mass.) in a 4:15 stretch gave the Rams a three-goal cushion and a 5-3 edge after 40 minutes of action, and Dancey’s shorthanded empty-netter with 38 seconds to play in the contest iced the triumph for the hosts.

Mondello and Rocchio each finished with a goal and an assist in the win for Suffolk, which also received two assists from freshman Paul Weisser (Longmeadow, Mass.) as well as single helpers off the sticks of junior Kyle Cook (Chino Hills, Calif.) and sophomore Joe Drago (Waltham, Mass.).  Junior Frank Bova (Princeton, Mass.) netted the first goal of the night 5:44 into the contest for Assumption, which received assists off the sticks of senior Mike Rust (Laguna Niguel, Calif.), junior Sean Staid (Peabody, Mass.) and freshmen Matt Scioli (North Reading, Mass.) and Todd Davis (Ann Arbor, Mich.).

Freshman Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) picked up his eighth win of the season with a 29-save effort in goal for Suffolk while collecting his third assist on offense on Dancey’s empty-netter, while sophomore Jamie DiGiulio (Peabody, Mass.) made 30 stops in net for Assumption as the Rams outshot the Ice Dogs by a 35-32 margin for the contest to avenge a 6-3 setback in the first meeting between the teams this season in November.

Suffolk will be idle until Saturday, January 26th when the Rams travel to Framingham, Mass. to take on Framingham State in an ECAC Northeast match-up that begins at 7:20 p.m., while Assumption heads back to Boston on Sunday evening to square off with Wentworth in an ECAC Northeast outing that begins at 7:00 p.m.
