Suffolk and Sodexho Launch "Mug Club" Program

When you return to campus in January, get out your travel mug and enjoy a beverage discount at Suffolk Sodexho Cafes.  The “Mug Club” program will kick off when campus cafes re-open for business at the start of the Spring 2008 semester.

In addition to Sodexho providing a 15 cent discount on fountain beverage purchases at Suffolk cafes, the Follett’s University Bookstores will offer a 10% discount on travel mugs for the month of January, in an effort to encourage people to take advantage of the new “Mug Club” program.

“Several members of the Suffolk community have expressed concern about the amount of disposable beverage containers which are used on campus,” said Erica Mattison, Special Projects Coordinator for Campus Sustainability.  “We are launching the ‘Mug Club’ program to encourage members of the Suffolk community to reduce and reuse.”

Suffolk and Follett Launch "B.Y.O.B. - Bring Your Own Bag" Program

When you purchase your books and school supplies for the spring 2008 semester at one of the Follett University Bookstores at Suffolk, you have the chance to benefit the environment and enter to win a bookstore gift certificate.

How does the program work?  Bring your own bag and choose not to take a disposable one from the cashier.  Then ask for the entry form to win a $25 gift certificate to the University Bookstores at Suffolk.  Completed entry forms will be entered and two winners will be selected from each Bookstore for the semester.

Both plastic and paper bags use up valuable natural resources and are usually disposed of after just one use.  By choosing to reuse bags we already have, we can reduce oil consumption and save trees.

Campus groups are asked to help promote these new programs.  Anyone who would like to get involved is encouraged to email recycle@suffolk.edu. Special thanks to Follett and Sodexho for their partnership on these programs.
