 BRISTOL, R.I.--  Senior Chris Young (Narragansett, R.I.) and junior Josh Howe (Randolph, Vt.) each scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead five players in double figures as Castleton State notched a 102-77 non-league victory over Suffolk in consolation round play of the 2007 Roger Williams Marriott Tip-Off Classic Saturday afternoon at Hawks Gymnasium.

 The Spartans (1-1) used a 23-5 run over a 7:33 span in the first half to race out to a 52-28 advantage at the break, as the Rams (0-2) shot just 28 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes of action.  Castleton State blistered the nets at a 63 percent pace following intermission to post its triumph, as junior Kevin Cayea (Red Hook, N.Y.) added 18 points and six assists for the Spartans, who also received 17 points from senior Joey Farley (Fairlee, Vt.) as well as 10 points from senior Richard Reilly (Manassas, Va.).

 Sophomore Alan Jaziri (Norwich, Conn.) netted a game-high 22 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists in the setback for Suffolk, which also received 19 points from freshman Mike Fleming (Exeter, N.H.) as well as 11 points, six rebounds and six assists from junior Brian Small (Stoughton, Mass.).  The Rams shot 37 percent from the floor for the contest and held a 47-35 rebounding edge but hurt themselves with 28 turnovers on the afternoon.

 Small scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Suffolk’s opening round 85-71 setback to Clark on Friday evening, as Jaziri joined him in double figures with 13 points.  Sophomore Josh Teixeira (Braintree, Mass.) added nine points on the night for the Rams, who also received nine rebounds from sophomore Joseph Ransom (Sheffield, England).

 Suffolk hosts Brandeis in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Regan Gymnasium beginning at 8:00 p.m., while Castleton State heads to Plymouth, N.H. on Tuesday evening to take on Plymouth State in a non-league contest at 7:30 p.m.
