Redvanly's Goal Lifts Hockey Past Johnson & Wales

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I.--  Senior Andrew Redvanly’s (Hillsdale, N.J.) power play goal with 4:10 remaining lifted Suffolk to a 2-1 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Johnson & Wales Friday evening at the Rhode Island Sports Center.

Redvanly’s man-advantage marker enabled the visiting Rams (4-1, 2-0 ECAC Northeast) to continue their best start in five seasons, as he converted feeds from junior Michael Bourque (Waltham, Mass.) and sophomore Nick Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) on the game-winner.  Senior Dan Pencinger (Randolph, N.J.) had given Suffolk a 1-0 advantage through 40 minutes of action when he converted passes from junior John Rocchio (East Greenwich, R.I.) and senior Tim Dancey (Anaheim, Calif.) on the power play at the 14:35 mark of the middle stanza, but the host Wildcats (1-3, 1-2 ECAC Northeast) evened matters with 6:46 remaining in the contest on sophomore Craig Houle’s (Burrillville, R.I.) power play tally on a feed from junior Mike O’Malley (Woonsocket, R.I.), setting up Redvanly’s heroics in the closing minutes.

Freshman Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) picked up his fourth win in as many decisions in goal by stopping 31 of 32 shots on the night for Suffolk, while senior Charlie Bacon (Hudson, Mass.) made 38 saves in net for Johnson & Wales as the Rams outshot the Wildcats by a 40-32 margin for the contest.

Suffolk will be idle until Saturday, November 24th when the Rams head to Hooksett, N.H. to take on Plymouth State in opening round play of the 2007 PAL Stovepipe Invitational beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Johnson & Wales travels to Winchendon, Mass. on Sunday evening to take on Franklin Pierce in an ECAC Northeast outing that begins at 8:00 p.m.
