CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- Junior Kaley Moore’s (Dracut, Mass.) first career hat trick helped lift Suffolk to its first-ever varsity collegiate victory Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s soccer triumph over Pine Manor at Pine Manor Field.
Moore gave the visiting Rams (1-9, 1-9 Great Northeast) the only goal they would need to record the first win of their inaugural season just 7:38 into the contest, and she added her second unassisted tally of the day in the 25th minute to stake Suffolk to a 2-0 advantage at the break. Freshman Gracie Sanchez (Milton, Mass.) extended the Rams’ edge to 3-0 in the 62nd minute with her first collegiate goal off of a corner kick, and Moore completed her hat trick with just under 12 minutes remaining to account for the final score.
Sophomore Meghan McDonald (Easton, Mass.) picked up her first collegiate win and shutout with seven saves in goal for Suffolk, which presented former Rams men’s soccer standout Ernst Cleophat with his first career triumph in the process, while sophomore Sarah Muccioli (Lexington, Mass.) made 13 stops in net for the host Gators (0-12, 0-10 Great Northeast) as Suffolk outshot Pine Manor by a 32-7 margin for the match.
Suffolk heads to Hartford, Conn. on Wednesday afternoon to take on St. Joseph (Conn.) in a Great Northeast outing that begins at 4:00 p.m., while Pine Manor hosts Daniel Webster in a Great Northeast match on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.
