STANDISH, Maine-- Sophomore Anna Willis (Gorham, Maine) netted a pair of goals, while fellow sophomore Brianna Jordan (Scarborough, Maine) added a goal and two assists as Saint Joseph’s (Maine) remained unbeaten by posting a 7-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Suffolk Wednesday afternoon at Monks Field.
Markers by Jordan and freshmen Jessica Needham (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Elizabeth McCarthy (Portsmouth, R.I.) staked the host Monks (11-0, 7-0 Great Northeast) to a 3-0 lead at the break, and tallies by Willis and freshman Elizabeth Theberge (Danvers, Mass.) in the first 10:46 following intermission extended the Saint Joseph’s edge to 5-0.
Freshman Jamie Tracy (Milford, Mass.) accounted for the visiting Rams’ (0-7, 0-7 Great Northeast) tally with her first collegiate goal in the 68th minute, while Willis and freshman Allie Smith (Belgrade, Maine) netted markers in the 73rd and 77th minutes, respectively, to close out the Monks’ scoring.
Sophomore Katye Mayo (Fairfield, Maine) and junior Lindsay King (East Bridgewater, Mass.) each made one save in net for Saint Joseph’s on the day, while sophomore Meghan McDonald (Easton, Mass.) made a career-high 22 stops in goal for Suffolk as the Monks outshot the Rams by a 47-3 margin for the match.
Suffolk hosts Norwich in a Great Northeast outing on Saturday evening at Dilboy Stadium beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Saint Joseph’s heads to Boston on Saturday afternoon to take on Emmanuel in a Great Northeast match that begins at 3:00 p.m.
