• Meet the Firms Night is a Big Success

BOSTON, MA – Last Wednesday commenced the fourth annual “Meet the Firms Night” at Suffolk Law School’s David J. Sargent Hall. Boston’s top 22 public accounting firms met with 150 students in what proved to be a successful evening of networking and conversation.

Occurring on the cusp of recruiting season, “Meet the Firms Night” is designed to bring Boston’s top accounting firms together with highly qualified Suffolk University accounting/tax/finance students. Employers such as Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers set up informational tables and provided students the opportunity to get to know their firm. An audit partner at KPMG stated, “The event was a huge success and I was delighted to meet so many high-caliber students.” Suffolk students prepared in advance by providing their resumes for the Accounting/Tax Resume Book provided to employers by Suffolk’s Office of Career Services. Students also came with questions having thoroughly researched firms and their websites.

“Meet the Firms Night” is coordinated by Laura Marchant, Assistant Director of Employer Relations, Career Services in cooperation with the Accounting Departments at Suffolk. Marchant stated, “It was a lively night of networking which precedes the highly anticipated on-campus recruiting events happening through the month of October.”

Suffolk University hosts a number of upcoming career events geared toward a variety of industries. The Communication/Marketing Career Expo on October 24 is a networking event set-up as 20-minute round-table discussions between communication professionals and students. Students have the opportunity to learn about fields of marketing, public relations, advertising, media, journalism, and event planning. In addition the Graduate Student Career Expo on November 8 provides graduate students with the opportunity to explore the industries of healthcare, finance, biotechnology and technology with professionals at informational tables.
