2/25/2002

Boston -- Suffolk University's Sawyer School of Management will host a panel discussion on business in China as part of its first China Learning/Networking event Tuesday, February 26.

The panel discussion will be facilitated by Management Professor Teresa Nelson and will include representatives from the fields of international banking and portfolio management, technology development and entrepreneurial ventures as well as a specialist in business expansion to Asia.

The China Networking portion of the event will offer an opportunity to mingle with the panelists and other business representatives interested in international business.

"The global neighborhood is very much a reality at the Sawyer School of Management. Our faculty and students mirror the diverse cultural and business backgrounds found in today's workplace and bring a multicultural perspective into the classroom." Events like the China Learning/Networking Event are designed to promote the global understanding that is needed in today's dynamic business environment," said Dean William J. O'Neill, Jr.

In May, 24 Suffolk MBA students will travel to China to experience first-hand one of the world's fastest growing economies. Students will join classroom discussions with MBA counterparts at Renmin (The People's) University, one of the leading universities in China. They will visit government-owned enterprises, rural Chinese cooperative businesses and multinational ventures in Beijing.

The China Learning/Networking event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will include traditional Chinese desserts, and there will be dance performances by students of the Cambridge Center for Chinese Culture.
