FRAMINGHAM, Mass.-- Senior Eddie Palomba (Saugus, Mass.) made six saves to pick up his third shutout of the season as three different individuals scored goals to lead Framingham State to a 3-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Suffolk Wednesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.
The host Rams (3-1-1) netted three goals in less than nine minutes midway through the second half, as senior Rob Harvey (Lakeville, Mass.) gave Framingham State the only goal it would need in the 62nd minute when he converted a feed from junior Michael Jones (Norwood, Mass.), and freshman Jason Silva (Milford, Mass.) extended the hosts’ edge to 2-0 just 2:23 later with an unassisted tally. Sophomore Jim Colombo (Littleton, Mass.) closed out the Ram scoring in the 71st minute when he took a pass from freshman Scott Faria (Fall River, Mass.), and Palomba made that margin hold up in net.
Freshman Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.) made six saves in goal in the setback for the visiting Rams (2-2) as Suffolk outshot Framingham State by a 19-15 margin for the contest.
Suffolk hosts St. Joseph’s (Maine) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Dilboy Stadium beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Framingham State heads to Fitchburg, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Fitchburg State in a MASCAC outing that begins at 11:00 a.m.
