Minor in Secondary School Teaching

Procedure for Declaring a Minor

Application checklists are available from the Program Director. Application packets should be submitted directly to the appropriate Program Director. You can expect a decision within ten days of submitting your materials.

Requirements for the Minor

Students are encouraged to begin taking courses in the program as early as their freshman year.

1. A major in one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, English, French, German, History, Mathematics, NESAD (Visual Arts), Physics, Political Science/Political Philosophy (Government), Physics, Spanish or Theatre Art.

2. Junior Standing and Minimum GPA of 3.0.

3. Two letters of recommendation.

4. Passing scores on the Content Area and Communication and Literacy Skills sections of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL).
