Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling/MPA

The MPA/MSMHC joint degree program meets the needs of public and private sector human service workers who wish to strengthen their direct service skills and succeed in a leadership role in a human service organization. You will complete 10 courses in public service and 10 courses in mental health counseling. You must meet the admission requirements of each program. Upon completion of your study, you will be awarded two degrees. 

Admission
Candidates must meet the entrance requirements for both the MPA and the MS programs. Application for the joint program is submitted during the first year of matriculation. The GRE or MAT must be taken for the MS degree. Degrees will be awarded when all degree requirements for both degrees are fulfilled. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for admission.

This 20-course program consists of:

6 required Educational Human Services (EHS) courses (18 credits)
4 EHS electives (12 credits)

1Please note that you must complete 30 credits hours in the Institute for Public Service; PAD and EHS electives are not interchangeable.

Students with no professional public management experience must take:  PAD 859 Public Service Internship (this will count as an elective) If you take EHS 738/739, you do not need to take PAD 859 and can take an additional MPA elective
