Ferreira Named GNAC Softball Player of the Year

Suffolk sophomore pitcher/infielder Jess Ferreira was named the 2007 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Ferreira was the 2006 GNAC Rookie of the Year and a 2006 Louisville Slugger National Fast Pitch Coaches Association second team All-American at second base.

In 2007, Ferreira (Cambridge, MA) had 30 appearances on the mound for a 12-15 overall record. She hit .438 on the season with 49 hits in 112 at-bats. She finished with six homeruns, six triples and eight doubles. She had a .964 fielding percentage. When she wasn't pitching, Ferreira played shortstop for the Rams.

Suffolk finished the 2007 season with a 15-22 overall record, 10-12 in the GNAC, tied for sixth place.

Ferreira currently ranks 31st nationally in Divison III softball in strikeouts per seven inning games with 7.8. She ranks 51st nationally in slugging percentage at .777. She finished with a 3.94 ERA, pitching 164.1 innings with 181 strikeouts.
