Suffolk's softball team lost two Great Northeast Athletic Conference games to Pine Manor on Friday, April 13. Pine Manor won the first game, 2-1 and then claimed victory in the eighth inning of the second game, 6-4.
After giving up two runs in the third inning in game one, the Rams scored one run in the fourth inning. Ashley Gaboriault (Sutton, MA) reached base on an error and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Rebecca Schalit (Miami, FL). Kellie Hurlock (East Lyme, CT) then doubled to drive in Gaboriault, but Suffolk could get no closer as Pine Manor held on for the 2-1 win.
In game two, Suffolk scored three runs in the sixth inning to take a 4-2 lead. With one out, Gaboriault singled and scored on Hurlock's single. Schalit reached on an error and scored on a stolen base. Hurlock scored on a ground ball from Rebecca Barnett (Hull, MA).
Pine Manor closed the gap to 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth on a home run. The Gators tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning on another solo home run. And Pine Manor took the win in the eighth inning on a two-run home run.
Suffolk travels to Albertus Magnus on Saturday for a GNAC doubleheader and then to St. Joseph CT on Sunday for a GNAC doubleheader. The Rams are now 9-16 overall, 7-7 in GNAC.
