• Campus Safety

Suffolk University’s location on Boston’s Beacon Hill affords our students a safe, secure environment—in the heart of a major metropolitan city. Our local community enjoys exceptional crime prevention. It is well-patrolled by the Boston Police Department, and, because our campus is adjacent to the Massachusetts State House, the Massachusetts State Police are always nearby.

Beyond these community resources, Suffolk University maintains a three-tiered system to assure the safety and protection of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors to our campus.

University Police and Security Department

Suffolk University Police personnel operate around the clock at fixed posts in campus buildings, and patrol the campus on foot and in marked vehicles. The campus police manage a comprehensive Crime Prevention Program, and provide campus escort and other services.

The department also publishes annual crime statistics in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.

Environmental Health and Safety

Environmental Health and Safety provides full range of environmental, health and safety services to the University community. The department also maintains and posts procedures for emergency preparedness, and assures the correct reporting of incidents.

Incident Command System

Suffolk is taking the lead among private universities in developing an Incident Command System to protect our students in the event of a catastrophic incident, and to help manage smaller incidents as safely and effectively as possible.

Both Suffolk University Madrid, in Spain, and Suffolk University Dakar, in Senegal, maintain their own security based on the policies and procedures required by the University and the demands of their specific locations.
