Jaehnig Receives 2004 Suffolk University C&J Outstanding Alumni Award


BOSTON, MA - Dan Jaehnig, weekend anchor of FOX25 News at Ten (WFXT) and an award-winning general assignment reporter for FOX25 News, is the recipient of the 2004 Suffolk University Communication & Journalism Outstanding Alumni/Alumnae Award.

“I'm truly honored to receive this award,” said Jaehnig, who was presented with his award during a reception and ceremony held last week at the Holiday Inn Select in Boston. “Suffolk University is a great place and the people there really embraced me. They provided me with the educational tools and support I needed to prepare me for my broadcast career.”

Jaehnig, a 1997 graduate of Suffolk University, joined WFXT in May of 2002. He previously had worked at WJAR, the NBC affiliate in Rhode Island, where he was utilized as a reporter and news anchor. Prior to WJAR, he worked as an anchor and investigative reporter for WWLP in Springfield, MA.

During his career, Jaehnig has been front and center on numerous breaking stories. He reported live from New York City on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and was on the air extensively with live coverage of The Station nightclub fire in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

Jaehnig received a Boston/New England Emmy Award in 2003 for Outstanding Achievement in Field Reporting and a 2004 Emmy for his in-depth reporting on women in prison.

“Dan has had a tremendous career and we're all very proud of him,” said Robert Rosenthal, chairman of the Communication & Journalism Department at Suffolk University. “Dan is an excellent role model for our students to emulate because he has made a name for himself through the combination of hard work, enthusiasm and commitment.”

A native New Englander, Jaehnig enjoys speaking at area schools, including his alma mater, about television reporting. He grew up in Quincy and now resides in the Boston area with his wife, Jane, and twin daughters, Caroline and Emma.
